I didn’t know what I expected to see when precisely at two on Saturday afternoon I rang the doorbell at Sunny’s bungalow. When the door opened I was pretty sure what I saw wasn’t it.

“Why are you looking at me like that Henry?”

“Uh…”

“What’s wrong, old man?”

“Nothing Alexander. I’ve never seen you dolled up like this before. Wow, you clean up real nice.”

“Backhanded compliment Henry, but I guess it’s all I’m going to get from the likes of you. The same goes for you. The last time I saw you in that suit was…”

“Look, princess, you need to toss that thought to curb. This is your day, your special day and you need to focus on the prize here.”

“Yeah, some special day. A trip downtown to the JP for a quicky marriage. I kept telling Mom and Becca to stop making such a fuss helping me get ready. In fact, I was actually planning to ditch this gown and put on a pair of jeans and a top.”

“I see who won that argument.”

“Doesn’t she always?”

“Pretty much. You ready for this?”

“Yeah, I suppose so. Please tell me your car’s clean.”

“I had it washed last night.”

“No James, I don’t plan on riding on the hood. The inside doofus. Please tell me the inside’s clean.”

“Damn, girl you’re as bad as your mother. For your information I had the sucker detailed inside and out.”

“Perfect. Let’s do this.”
