Google adds stereo pairing to Google Home and Home Mini

Is the sound on your Google Home and Google Home Mini a bit disappointing? The search giant brings a solution to its Home app: a ‘stereo pairing’ option has been added to the settings menu to merge Home and Home Mini speakers.

When Google announced its new digital assistant: Google Assistant, it also introduced the ‘first’ smart speakers, the Google Home and Home Mini. From that point on, it really became possible for Google to roll out its ecosystem widely. Google not only placed the speakers on the market as smart speakers: they must also serve as multi-room speakers indoors. In almost all music applications, you can stream to (chrome) cast devices. However, the disadvantage remains that you do not have to buy the speakers because of the sound quality — the speakers fall into the basket.

To connect Google Home speakers, you have to go through a number of steps. If you don’t see the option yet, try updating the Google Home app. It is not known via which update the stereo pairing function has become available, but the function will eventually roll out for all Home and Home Mini speakers: you can always try it out once the function becomes available. Follow the following steps to connect the speakers:

> Open the Google Home app > Make sure that both Home speakers are in the app > Click on one of the Home speakers > Then click on the gear at the top right > Look for the ‘speaker pair’ option in the list > Now go through the steps and select the speaker to be connected.

Now that you have completed all the steps, the speakers are connected to each other. This also ensures that the speakers are seen as one stereo pair in the cast menu. Note that the Google Assistant only works on the speaker that should serve as the left channel. If you don’t like having the individual speakers connected? Then you can always unlink them from the app. Would you like to link the third (and perhaps fourth?) Google Home speaker to the first two speakers? That is of course possible. Make sure that the speakers are (will be) placed together in the room.
