For my fall photoshoot assignment, I chose to photograph a friend of mine along a forest trail at Centennial Park in Thunder Bay, Ontario. I chose to photograph a subject instead of doing detail or macro photography, because I wanted to be able to capture expression and feeling in my image.
In this photograph, Chloe is laughing and enjoying the fall weather. Her expression and happiness are captured, giving the image a warm and friendly feeling. She is also dressed in a knitted sweater and sporting a fall-appropriate scarf.
I decided to go on our shoot around 5:00pm in order to catch “Golden Hour” as the sun was starting to go down. This can be seen by the sun lighting up her hair behind her.
Concerning tech, I chose to photograph Chloe using my full-frame sensor DSLR: a Nikon D750. I used my 50mm lens, an ISO of 320, at f/2.8, and a shutter speed of 1/320 sec. For editing, I did minor retouches to the exposure and contrast using the tonal curve in Adobe Lightroom as I preferred this over using Snapseed (Photo Editor by Google).
We shot at several different locations throughout Centennial Park including further down the trail, near the stream, in some nearby bushes, and along the main bridge.
