The Forest that Never Grew

I see everything through ivory eyes,
and twice, I’ve seen the sky serenade the land with its wash of gray and ice

the smoke, the armor, the silence on the sunrise
the sheen of the stars, the fog on the lake

speaks to me as though it were dragon’s breath, and
I’m the the one dead set on making it past the Valley of Death

and shaking his hand, with my sword
until blood drips down the blade, a demon
slain, defeated, my clan members safe.

This forest started to fade into
a shadowland, filled with nothing but
dead leaves, and dried earth

there’s a light at the end of the tunnel,
will you walk through?

Silvern, and the planet Saturn
I can see everything above me, as though it were
my life, falling into a pattern

stunted growth, in a world anew
I’m a sapling that was planted in infertile earth,
some call this place a waste rock, the forest of dew

but I call it Silverglade, the forest
that never grew.
