Diet Drinks and Your Health

Diet sodas and other artificially sweetened beverages may increase the risk of stroke in some post-menopausal women, according to a new study.

Participants who consumed two or more diet drinks per day were 31 percent more likely to have a stroke caused by a blood clot compared to those who consumed less than one diet drink per week or none at all.

The American Heart Association recommends water as the best choice for a no-calorie beverage.
