Thinking like an entrepreneur

What comes to your mind when you hear the word “Entrepreneurship”? If you had asked me the same question a year ago I would have said, it is an act of bringing your ideas into existence or an act of creating a business and to generate profit. It is simple right? But have you ever thought how are you going to do it and what can be the outcomes.

Just like a leadership quality I believe everybody has an entrepreneurial mindset. It’s just some realizes it and hold it on to the right time whereas others don’t recognize it. Only having an idea in your mind will not help you start your entrepreneurship journey you also need to wait for a right time, a right place and have a right group of people. It is not always necessary to work on your own idea sometimes if your interest meets with other people you can work on that too.

I always wanted to become an entrepreneur but didn’t know how to groom my skills and ability to become one. I remember the first time I heard the course name “Entrepreneurship and startup business” the first question that came to my mind was “Is it going to be the same old boring lectures?”, but when I attended the lecture it was totally different than what I expected. We were assigned a task to come up with a business idea and stick it in the wall. I had no idea what I wanted but as I was going through the ideas pasted in the walls, there was one idea that made me think if I wanted to work on it. Without any hesitation I choose the idea and I must say it was a good choice. Like I said it’s always not necessary to work on the idea of your own and I knew this was an idea that I wanted to work in and which somehow meets my interest. I was excited to work on it but was afraid if I would be able to corporate with my team mates or not. As we were working together to build up a perfect business strategy I notice that though we had different personalities and thinking we all had the same goal. One thing that I learned working in a group was, our nature might be different but once we work in a field of our interest we feel comfortable working with that person and sharing our ideas.

After each process I have come to realize how difficult it is to start one’s own business. Obstacles are inevitable and processes might have to be done over and over again to get the perfect result. Since the market is too saturated these days, it is difficult to land on a unique solution to solve our problems.

The entrepreneurship and startup business course not only gave us an opportunity to test our entrepreneurship skills but also taught us how to work with different people in a different environment.
