What You Need to Hear

In the whirlwind of life, so often we get swept up in the business of work. Particularly if you are a manager or view yourself as a leader. In these roles we take on responsibilities beyond our tasks such as relationship management and strategic thinking. So often at the end of the week we feel like we’ve just gotten off of a carnival ride (or the work flows into the weekend, in which case the swirling continues).

If you are someone who is working hard, doing the best you can, here are a few things that I believe you need to hear:

— Thank you for being someone who pours so much into everything you do

— Thank you for giving things so much thought

— Thank you for always doing the best that you can

— Those around you may not always notice the effort you are putting in. Even if they notice they may not say anything or they may say the wrong thing. Regardless of who notices, what you are doing does make a difference and somewhere, somehow by someone is deeply appreciated.

— Please take a moment this weekend to make sure you are slowing down enough to invest in your wellbeing, so that you can be YOU again next week, next month and next year.

— Remember, life is not designed to be both a constant sprint and a constant marathon, pick one and stick to it, taking breaks accordingly (long breaks between sprints or frequent shorter breaks during a marathon).

— Find a way to thank anyone who is making your life easier or better.

— Thank you for being YOU.
