The ground beneath a farmhouse in the Mexican state of Puebla created a huge sinkhole and swallow a house and 2 dogs. It was once assumed that it was caused by groundwater extraction, but authorities claim that it is a natural process caused by the type of rocks found in the area, limestone, which is found all over the world, including, of course, the Iberian Peninsula.

The massive hole has grown to the size of a soccer field, with a circumference of 126 meters and a depth of 45 meters, however, this may have been underestimated due to the fact that the well is flooded.

Video Above shows the rescue of 2 dogs that have eaten by the huge sinkhole.

Geologists are clueless as to why a massive sinkhole has opened in Mexico, They conclude that Natural causes and soil erosion generated the massive hole.

Although humans can generate these types of sinkholes, they are more usually caused by the natural breakdown of limestone rock. The old dinosaur hunting grounds, now known as the magical city of Cuenca, are an example of a limestone-rich environment.

Rainwater, which is slightly acidic, has an effect on the limestone rock by gradually dissolving it. This is the source of many caverns and strange rock forms, as well as deadly sinkholes in the ground.

These sinkholes are known by a variety of names, including dolines and cenotes if they are flooded. They can originate for a variety of reasons, but the most prevalent are roof collapses in caverns and rainwater dissolving a specific place in the ground over millions of years.

The “Ring of Cenotes,” a semicircular alignment of one hundred holes in the ground located in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, is perhaps the most unusual occurrence of doline development. The massive impact of the meteorite that wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago forced the limestone rock to crumble, resulting in this nearly 1,000-hectare macrostructure.

These earthen wells have always attracted humans; in Atapuerca, our forefathers utilized sinkholes as tombs regardless of the gender of the departed. Sinkholes were used by the Mayans as a portal to the underworld, which they called Xibalba, and where they performed ritual sacrifices.

Although sinkholes can be a disaster, effective site planning helps engineers and architects to guarantee that structures are not swallowed by the ground, and incidents like the one in Puebla are becoming increasingly rare.
